Opinions please
I've been going thru various testing since my mammo came back suspicious in June. This past Monday I went thru hell... 3 hours on the MRI table having 3 biopsies done (2 on right breast, one on left). I swore I would never, ever do that to myself again. It hit me hard... emotionally. It was slightly painful... but emotionally it wrecked me.
Anywoo... I got the call from my radiologist today and she wants to do one more test... yup, another MRI guided biopsy on my right breast that she couldn't get to due to the positioning of my breast on Monday. She said this one was really lit up.
As its stands right now, I have 4 areas on my right breast that will have to be (wire guided)surgically removed, and 2 on my left breast. LCIS, ALH, radial scarring in both breasts. Obviously, I'm high risk. But I don't want to go on tamoxifen or other drugs for a bunch of reasons. Believe me, I have researched and weighed all options.
Honestly...I don't know what to do. Get the MRI even thou the last one totally freaked me out (with valium). The doctor tried to reassure me that this one won't take as long as she is only doing one biospy. If it turns out to be something worrisome and it needs to come out, I'll need to have the wire inserted under MRI.
Or... forego further testing and have my breasts removed. Can you get breast cancer if you don't have breasts any longer?
I know I'm probably not making sense... my head is just spinning right now.

So sorry you are so incredibly stressed right now... ((hugs)). My BS said you can still get BC even after a BMX, but the risk is minimal. Only you can answer your question, but here is what I hear... Someone who can't take much more before it destroys her quality of life. IMO your breasts are not worth the deep deep price your mental health is paying to keep them.

I had my first MRI in May of this year. Although that test saved my life, I cannot fathom how you managed 3 hrs in that machine, even if you had drugs. Out of all the things I have had done to me since May, I think that was the one thing I hated most, but will do again when needed.
I wish you the best in your decision. Just know that when you make your decision, you will feel better when you have a plan of action.
