Lupron vs. chemo?

    Hi,

I am on the fence about chemo. I am stage 1, IDC/DCIS/LCIS, close margin and LVI. Contemplating 2nd re-excision or BMX. My onco score is low but the LVI is giving me pause. The onc suggested that some women on the fence about chemo have chosen lupron, as in some studies it has the same effects as chemo. Does anyone have experience with this? Or know of any studies? Will the lupron do the same thing for an LVI as chemo, without the SE's?

For me LVI meant RADs were recommended. The chemo was a different decision.

Hmmm, I have not even considered mitotic rate. The path report says histologic=2/3, nuclear=3/3, mitotic=1 (<8 mitoses per 10 fields). What does that mean? It sounds like I have a slow mitotic rate too. Does this mean it is slow growing?

I had oncotype of 17 and LVI.  You can see my stats below.   I also had BMX.  I was 45 last year at diagnosis.  One med onc said no chemo the other one said I would benefit from chemo.  Being grade 2 and LVI, I chose chemo.  I was never offered lupron.  Lupron will shut down the ovaries, but I was scared there were cells already floating in my body and wanted to zap them.  Seemed like chemo would really be the only way to do that.  I did TC x 4 and did pretty well.  I used cold caps to keep my hair.  I finished chemo in May and am doing great, with my hair too.
