Hello,

I just turned 24 years old and am currently going through chemo (3 sessions down, 5 to go) for stage 2, triple negative, grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma. I would love to talk to someone else close to my age who's going through the same thing as me. All that any can say when they find out about my diagnosis is to comment on my age and how young I am. It's annoying and itd be nice to talk to someone else going through the same things.

    Hi Alyssa,

I'm 30 and I've been diagnosed with BC on Tuesday. I've been going to the doctors since August b/c of a bloody nipple discharge. I have very early stages (Level 0 or 1) and I have to get my nipple removed b/c that is where the rest of my cancer is. I now have to make a decision of whether to get a lumpectomy or mastectomy. Being I'm young and my cancer is boring (as my doc said) she is not rooting for one more than the other so its a decision I have to make. I understand the annoying aspect. Its annoying to hear you'll be find and its good they caught it every early. I'm glad for all of that but this is new to me and scarey. I am a very strong person but I feel very weak and scared with having to make this huge decision and everything else that is going on in my life.

    Hi Alyssa,

I'm 23 years old, recently diagnosed in April of 2011. I am also stage 2, triple negative and currently going through chemotherapy. It's been difficult trying to find someone close to my age range. I agree, that everywhere I go, when people see my bald head, they always say "you're so young." It is annoying but I try to be optimistic. At least we're young, so our bodies will do well in treatment =). Stay strong and positive!

Feel free to send me a private message.

Have you had genetic testing done?  If not, i strongly suggest you ask your doctor about it.  I'm 33 and have been diagnosed with noninvasive DCIS.  Learning that I am BRCA 2 positive, let me know that I had no options.  Both breast need to go.  I'll be having surgery in two weeks to remove them and have them immediately reconstructed.

    Hi,

I still think about the genetic testing. My doctor said, although I am the first in my whole family, it is still possible, that I could be BRCA 1/2 positive, because of my age (28) and my type of cancer (medullary). This decision is very hard, I have to take the consequences, if this test turns out positiv.... Undecided

    Hi Alyssa,

I am 30 and have triple negative bc. I am having FEC-T chemotherapy and surgery afterwards. Because I'm young and have no children yet I underwent fertility treatment and managed to get some embryos frozen before starting treatment. It was also a shock for me as I only got married in February and was already trying to get pregnant when I was diagnosed. This put a spanner in the works as you can imagine. The best advice Though I'm sure you've heard it plenty is to stay positive even though it may be hard at times. I have had two treatments so far, third on thursday. What treatment are you having and how are you finding it so far?

    Hi,

I get 6 sessions of TEC treatment. Next tuesday is the 3, the first session was very hard. It really knocked me out.  My bones hurt and I couldn´t think. The second session was better, but the last days I don´t feel very good, it´s like a depression Cry

    Hi Alyssa,

I am 26, diagnosed in June. Bloody discharge in the nipple. I am also the first in the family to diagnos with bc, thinking about genetic testing soon. Mind was ER/PR+, HER-, stage 1, grade 2. I out chemotherapy and 4+ weeks into my radiation, after that I will be on tamoxifen for 5 years. My fiancé and I are planning to get marry next year and start family, unfortunate that I might not be able to have baby any soon ortaht I might not be able to have one in the future.

Be strong and stage healthy, I know it's a little annoying that everywhere you go, especially the hospital, everyone said you are so young.

I am 29 and just did my second round of chemo (tc) The you're too young comment doesn't bother me it's the comments about chemo. I am stage 1 with no lymph node involvement. I always get well my grandma didn't have to do chemo....people don't understand how quickly cancer can grow in a young person and I have 50 years left to live; chemo can help make sure I get those 50 years without cancer returning.
