Biopsy Rt armpit lump.... scared
I finished chemo Oct 11,2010 and have been on Tamoxifen since. I am also on Zoladex. A few months ago I felt a lump under my left armpit. It was really small and was moveable. It felt like a lymphnode. I had an US about 1 month ago and the results came back fine... that it looked like a lymphnode with no suspicious edges. Now I am here because I started feeling the pain again from that lump. Let me say that the last time I felt a painful lump it was cancer... this was on the left side. I am so scared I have cancer again. I had DCIS 5mm on the rt breast and 5 nodes were removed and all was b9. I go in tomorrow for an US guided biopsy. Soooo scared. I am only 34 years old and I have no children. I just got married and bought a house. Does this sound like it could be a reoccurance from DCIS?

sanbar ~ Of course you're scared, sweetie, and you have every right to be.
I have no knowledge of DCIS recurrance, but I am offering support, hugs and handholding. I'm so sorry you're going through this, and I hope you get good results from your biopsy.
Hugs,

Do you have any updates? I too have a lump at the end of my scar where they took my sentinel/lymph nodes and will be seeing my oncologist tomorrow about it. I read on another thread that it could just be scar tissue. I'm only two months out from radiation after having surgery, chemo, BMX, and now Tamoxifen. Hmmmm.
Just wondering how things went for you and if it ended up being scar tissue.
Good thoughts...

Hi Allison, I have not heard anything yet. I had the biopsy friday and I am assuming it will take one day to get to the lab and few days to process. My onc and I are on BFF terms so she will call me and give me the results over the phone. When I saw the radiologist she said that it did not look like cancer but maybe fatty necrosis. I am not too worried about that spot but now I am freaking out about all these other places that hurt. I am ultra-paranoid. I am 1 year post chemo so now would be the time I would get a recurrance...ahhhh. This is really stressful. Just need to think positive... I will not get cancer again. ooommmm
I would not be too worried about your issue as well. My onc also said that our lymphs are working overtime (since I have expanders in) so they can get a tad swollen from time to time. Oh I see we have similar stats.... keep me posted on how everything goes. I will do the same.

I am so relieved. Thanks everyone for your support. No one knows how scary this is except for you all. thanks again xo

I am so happy for you!! My onc told me today that he thinks it is just fatty tissue as well and that it will eventually go away. I'm sure we will always worry about the cancer though, probably for the rest of our lives. Positive thinking is a must!

We have very similar stats indeed, I just finished up my treatment and am taking Tamoxifen so I feel like everything is done but still not sure what to do.
I will be making a survivorship plan in two weeks so that will answer all my lingering questions. Good luck to you, I'm glad things turned out well.
