Insurance and Job Question

Hi ladies, I've been kind of not around for awhile, lots of real life stuff.

I know there is a separate forum for insurance, but all the forums make me confused so I'm sticking here.

My company just was sold to a new company which brings lots of anxiety and questiong wtf is going to happen with my job.

But to me the most important thing is will I have insurance, breast cancer obviously sucks and makes me morry about insurance at all times.

I currently have insurance through my husband and his employer because it has worked better for us. When I signed up for his insurance I had to get a letter from MY employer stating they don't offer insurance (well they did but it was just disaster insurance basically).

With the new company I am elegible for insurance through MY company now, and it's decent coverage but cost wise, I'm good where I am and we want to stay how we have it now.

So my question IS THIS: Do I tell my husbands job that I am now offered insurance- this would cost us an extra $75 for my insurance there- but still good for us but would prefer not to have to pay that....? Or Do we not say anything to them?

If or when they find out I am offered insurance would I be in trouble if we hadn't told them? Or would we then just have to start paying that money?

Melindy - We have the same policy here, if your spouse can get insurance, you pay more (mine is like $150/month, I think).  I think it is kind of unfair, because even though my husband's company offers insurance, it is total crap and nobody uses it (because it is so crappy).

Personally, I wouldn't make a notificaton that you have insurance if your husband has to do NOTHING during open enrollment.  However, if he has to sign a form that there is "no change", then, I think it is different.
