radiation and teeth problems

Does anyone have any experience with radiation (without chemo) causing dental problems?  Before I began radiation I had a cleaning appt. at the dentist, and they said I would need a letter for my file from the RO saying it was OK to do dental work on me.  So I went off to have radiation and promptly forgot about the letter - and sometime during radiation I broke off a part of my tooth while I was brushing.  I've seen some anecdotal stuff about radiation and tooth problems, but nothing really definitive.  Of course, my follow up rads visit was yesterday, and I also forgot all about the letter and asking about tooth problems!  I'm beginning to think the radiation has affected my memory
