i have a 3cm nodule on my thyroid that i've had for about ten years.  it was biopsied ten years ago, twice, was b9 and has been stable with no growth since.  for the past two months the nodule has been painful and tender, no change on ultrasound.  i saw my endocrinologist last week and am going to have a biopsy on tuesday b/c the dr can't explain the pain.  although pain isn't necessarily associated with thyroid cancer the dr wants to rule it out.

does anyone have a similar story? what was your outcome?

My nodules have never been painful, but have grown, from time to time. All my thyroid
biopsies have been benign. I surely hope your biopsy will be benign too!  xo Bany

thanks bany!  i had the biospy yesterday, multi focal and coarse calcifications were found along with increased blood uptake to the most painful part of the nodule upon u/s. those were terms i heard when dx with bc, not sure what to think.  i usually assume all tests/procedures/biopsies are b9 and go about my merry way, this biopsy has me thinking though... i should have an answer next week, in the meantime i look like a  42 year old suburban mom with a HICKEY. lovely, simply lovely!  xo lulu

My thyroid lit up on a petscan after I was done with chemo. I had an ultrasound on June 30 and was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a few days later. I had no pain and no symptoms. I don't say this to scare you at all, but to tell you after dealing with breast cancer, thyroid cancer was so different. It isn't even handled in oncology, because as my oncologist told me it is such a treatable cancer.. I had my thyroid removed, had 2 thyroid scans and took a radioactive lodine pill..I was to.d this was totally related to the bc. I am 43..hoping your results are b9 and your pain goes away..but know if it's not, you can handle this..
