Just don't know how to get through this.

I thought I was doing ok, but I have been looking up some different reconstruction types online and looking at pictures.  I just don't know how I am going to get through this.  I feel so overwhelmed and uninformed.  I don't know what to do.  I have an appointment with an oncologist on 10/10 and hope they will help me to come to a decision.

dlm217, I think everybody feels totally overwhelmed and uninformed at first!  But it'll get better.  I'm glad you have an appt with a MO.  S/he will give you a lot more definite information.

Write down your questions; it will help you organize your thoughts.  Also, most of us have a lot more time than we think we do to make these important decisions.  So don't feel you have to rush into anything.

Finally, remember to breathe!  :-)  (I have to remind myself of that.)

This site is a great source of information.  I used it quite a bit when I was first diagnosed and it helped me to just see that others were going thru the same thing.  Believe me, although you don't feel like it now, you will get thru it!  I am a 3 year survivor (as of 10/28), and it does become a part of your past.  Do as much research as you can - it helps to ask questions and go to each visit armed with information.  FYI - I had a "gummy bear" implant after my reconstruction.  I'm at the point now where I sometimes forget I even have it!

I'm a little over one year out from dx and I was right where you are: confused, scared, not knowing what to do. It does get easier. Take a voice recorder to your appointment with your ONC. My iPhone can record, perhaps your cell phone can, too. I decided to go breast free and am still happy with my decision. No regrets.
