Recovering from low LVEF

I only have 3 more herceptin tx to go. ( Yeah)  My last ECHO showed a decline in my LVEF but it's still in the normal range.  I was wondering how long it took your LVEF to recover after Herceptin was stopped?  Are we talking weeks or months?

I think it depends how low it goes. Mine went down to 25% after 6 months of herceptin and it took about a year for me to get it back in normal range. I have to take heart meds for a few more years also.

My ECHO  went from 70 to 57 after 5 Herceptin treatments. The Herceptin was discontinued for about a month, the ECHO reading went back to 62, and the Herceptin was resumed. So it bounced back about 50% after about a month. Sounds like everyone is different but hope this is helpful.

My EF went down after I finished A/C from 55% to 31% and was immediately put on Lisinopril and Toprol xl. After about 6 months my EF rose to 45% and was given the loading dose of the Herceptin. That sent me into heart failure and I had to spend the weekend inpatient at the hospital. I had a mugga last year and my EF came back up to 50% and that's where its been since. I was taken off of Lisinopril in April because it was making my lips and face swell. I have an echo scheduled for 1 Dec and if that comes back normal(??), I will be weaned off of the toprol xl and will be medication free since my chemo days....can't wait!! PS....I was told I would not be able to do Herceptin ever because my heart just can't take it....which was kinda hard to take for an active 43 year old....

WOW, guess I'm really "lucky" - on Herceptin for life (or until it stops working), going on 2 years and 9 months, and the MUGA is still above 65%.
