saw that...love how she claims to now have 0 chance of bc ever again.  She must have had some surgeon to get those odds.  DAmn, I wish I was rich and famous. (sarcasm).

Yes, my daughter sent this link to me.  Good for Wanda that they found the cancer during a breast reduction.  Wonder if she had been getting mamms also?? anyway, for her to say that she now has a ZERO chance of ever getting it again, is very misleading.  Way to go Wanda...wonder if she is friends with Andrea Mitchell.  They must use the same doctor??  ugh.

    Hmmm...

Just hope nobody whose DCIS has come back sees that. Sometimes I think celebrities should not be allowed to talk about things they are clueless about.

Once again, I wish public figures would just stop letting the whole world know when they have BC if they are going to engage in misleading statements and use their experience to generalize about everyone's experience.

I mean, if breast cancer really is so curable and we all beat it or survive, then it's not a big deal and no worse than the common cold, so why even mention it? (sarcasm drooling).

I just hope my friend's family doesn't read about how Wanda Sykes has "zero percent chance" of BC now. My friend passed away last Oct; her original dx was DCIS.

Or maybe I should just hope Wanda Sykes doesn't hear about my friend.

Wanda Sykes is pretty close to correct. After a bilateral mastectomy for low grade DCIS, the odds of recurrence is almost negligible.

Not all DCIS is alike. The recurrence rates and likelihood of developing invasive cancer differ greatly depending on risk factors and original treatments. I would hope that those of us who have been around on these forums long enough keep that in mind and would keep reminding new folks.

I thought she handled her message well, until I got to the "zero chance" bit. Adding at least an "almost" would have helped. Happy for her that she found it early.
