All things for a reason

My husbands company had a lay off in August and he lost he great job.  He is 61 and it is hard for an older person to find a job, age discrimination is alive and well.

It was a a blow to us because my company was in the middle of a merger and I was unsure about my job as well.

We thought it was THE worst thing in the world ..why was this happening to us.  We are the good guys who help everyone else in our familes.

Then 3 weeks later I have cancer !

Another blow...and we both are worried about employment and insurance etc.

I tell my boss and she tells me 2 months early that I will get keep my job and the reason she is telling me early  is so I wont worry about my job/insurance during my recovery.

So I took my leave on Sept 13 to go have surgery and start treatment.

(whew)

So we are truly thankful my hubby is off right now and able to take care of me/house /child.  (he worked overseas)...all things for a reason.

Well two days ago he got an offer of a BETTER job to start at the end of Oct.

It will be hard to see him go back to work while I have chemo...but I do have some wonderful sister in laws who can and will help me.  One of them I took care of years ago when her hubby passed away  at early age.  All blessings are returned -  All things for a reason !  God does take care of us and we may not know why things work the way they do.

I continue to stay hopeful that good things happen from the bad.

Just my story - sometimes it is like I am talking about some one else.

Wonderful story Tappy.  Not that you have to get hammered. but that you will be fine financially, and that your husband's career isn't over.

Love the BETTER job stuff for your husband.  You will figure out the chemo.  I didn't need help.

Enjoy your time with your husband.  I am really so thrilled that he landed, but not surprised for anyone who has a current, valuable skill set.

    Don't spend the extra severance.

Anyway, I am thrilled for both of you. Yes, our prayers do get answered.  I was thankful to have consulting work when I really needed it.  Now, I am reshaping my career, so quite the adventure.

I am glad you got to take medical leave.  Good luck with everything. - Claire

My husband is a county road-worker and has to work mandatory overtime when we have snow. The winter before my diagnosis, our area was slammed with one blizzard after another. He took his overtime in the form of time, instead of money. He has been able to go to every appointment with me because of this. When he was working all that overtime we sure did miss him, but it worked out to our benefit.

    God is good!

I agree with u that good can come out of bad especially if you are a believer, as I am, I didn,t know at first why I had cancer but after treatment I realized I was not meant to die form this But to live to Inspire Others as I have tried to do here, to use myself to show that my faith in God and plenty of HOPE and Positive thinking got me through and i do try to pass that along here. If I didn,t go through this how could I be here to Inspire, I am an 18 yr Survivor  and I do believe others can be also, so I stay and do my best to keep others with that same HOPE.  msphil (idc, stage 2, 3 nodes involved, Ltotal mast, chemo and rads and 5 yrs on Tamoxifen) God Bless Us ALL.
