Simulation ct

Options

I haven't even see my radiologist, but it looks as though they may have made some decisions already (md anderson can be like that! And they expect you to go along). I see i am scheduled for a simulation ct about 3 weeks after I meet with the rads person. Does that mean they're looking at whole breast irradiation?

Has anyone had any of the accelerated whole breast things? I'm suppose to be in europe in December, and if i have 6 weeks of radiation starting Nov first, there's going to be a problem.

I had my lumpectomy in early Sept.  Is it usual not to be finished with rads four months on? I'd really like some of my life back.

I was faced with a similiar situation.  My normal rads schedule was to encroach on a long scheduled Asia trip.  When I explained the conflict, my rad onc offered to cut out the last week  and combine with the "next to last" week, doing the rads twice daily.  He explained they would have to be 6 hours apart.  I thought that was very accommodating.  Who knew?

Kittylee, I am surprised. How did you feel after that last week?

Tarry, I don't know yet.  Today's treatment is 23 of 33.  Next week would start the "doubling" up but my trip has now been cancelled for other reasons so I'll be doing the normal schedule now.   At this stage, I am feeling fine.  Some reddening of the skin,  occasional itchiness and a daily 1/2 hour nap is pretty much all that's going on.  I don't know if what "we" had planned was officially considered accelerated whole breast radiation but I suppose it was, in theory.
