is there any benefit to just 1 week of rads?

Options

Strange question, I know. But back in 2009 I had just started rads when I had my 6 months follow up mammo after diagnosis. They found DCIS in the same damn breast that had a lumpecetomy, so I decided to have a bilateral mastectomy and be rid of them. At that point I'd done 5 days (Mon-Fri) of rads. Both my MO and RO decided that since I was getting the mastectomy, and my two positive nodes only contained very small micromets, that I'd be OK not continuing with radiation treatments.

Now that I know so much more about breast cancer, I almost wish I had completed the radiation to be on the safe side. Did I get any benefit out of those 5 days at all?

    Minxie,

i am in a situation similar to you.  i have had six radiations and decided i don't want any more because i am terrified of them.  my case was a bit complicated but unless you want to hear i will not burden you.  i just want to know, were the surgeon able to do implants after five weeks of rads?  the oncologist/radiotherapist is very angry with me and she is saying that i will get a lot of side effects from the six sessions and i will not be able to have them ever again.

i hope to hear back from you. thanks,
