best kind fish oil?

Options

Hey gals, I am confused about the best type of fish oil. Hvae been taking 2000mg a day, but then the local health food store said deep sea fish is better - agh! my chemo brain continues and I get overwhelmed with the myraid of options. Thoughts?

I use Barleans. But I have used various brands over the years. I know that when I have gotten them at the drugstore or grocery store (cheaper kinds), they upset my stomach and make me burp and it is truly disgusting (sorry for the TMI). So even though it is hard on my bargain-hunter self, I stick to the pricier brands (get mine at the health food store) and have no problems at all.

I take one teaspoon Nordic naturals Arctic D Cod Liver Oil.

It has Omega 3's and Vitamin D3.

I take it in a little tomato juice with lemon to hide the taste..(which isn't bad).

I have seen a naturopathic oncologist and he recommends the following brands for vitamins and supplements. Natural factors, carillons, ethical nutrients natures way and spectrum. He knows these are quality brands. Not to say the others are bad, he just doesn't know for sure.

Another vote for Nordic Naturals - I get it at Whole Foods, surprising, but the best price.

I just read Dr Barry Sears' book The Omega Rx Zone.  Sears is the originator of the zone diet, and later he added fish oil to the mix.  He is adamant that fish oil supplements should be pharmaceutical grade.  I'm not so crazy about his diet recommendations, but I did feel convinced to give fish oil a try.  The bottle went really quick.  I'll be getting more.  I do feel like my brain fires on its cylinders a bit better with the fish oil.  ....I'm trying to get my brother to take it.  He's getting brain fog, arthritis and most recently elevated psa levels to the point of doctors wanting to to a biopsy.  According to Sears, fish oil will help all these complaints, as long as it's pharmaceutical grade taken in therapuetic doses.

brain fog.. is that what you call it?

A big issue for me occasionally because i have to have all cylinders fully working on Sunday mornings particularly.

I try eating fish skin, (with the fish) but i find it absolutely pukifying.

    hey ladies, thanks so much!

i have been taking nordic naturals, usually 2000mg/day. just bought one with added CoQ10 (family hx heart disease, plus adriamycin/cytoxan/herceptin and then early menopause - whew!) - i do feel better when i take it, altho my new onc just smiles indulgently. which makes me want to buy a flamethrower.

i wish i could see an integrative oncologist - maybe i should look around for one.

apple, i also try to eat fish skin - it is tough to take unless made perfectly. i tend to eat it only when eating sushi - i'll gulp down a salmon skin salad.
