need some advice please ladiesxxx
Hi Ladies
i need some advice my friend has been diagnosed with IDC in august she had her first chemo on wednesday. she said she feels like shes drunk 20 cans of redbull shes totally hyper she doesnt feel sick ?? obviously everyones different but it this normal. i thought maybe its the steriods thats making her fel this way and when she comes off them thats when she will feel the real effects ?
also she had all her scan CT/PET/chest mri an we are going on wednesday to get the results ive read on other peoples posts about false positives ?? can this happen ? the lymph gland under her arm tested positive and she has a small lump above her collar bone when we saw the consultant he said that they can remove lymph nodes but not if they are in the neck but he didnt explain why does any one no any thing about this??
sorry to ramble on but i am learning but its a slow process because theres so much to learn
the doc also told her she is HER2 pos and something regarding estrogen pos?? is this where you could be prone to ovarian cancer ??
if you could ans any of these i would really appreciate it
thank you ladies xxxxxxxx

Hi Slinky1 sorry to hear about your friend. It is very likely that the steroid given at her chemo treatment is the cause of the hyperactivity but those side effects will pass in a couple of days. If she is feeling no il effect from the chemo, then will a little luck she may one of the lucky ones who doesn't.
The lymph glands in the neck are very tricky to try to remove and it is a very major operation as there are so many vital nerves and blood vessels that can be dangerous so that is possibly why they don't remove them. The treatments your friend is doing should take care of those nodes so please don 't worry on that score.
I'm not sure of the possible link with Her2 + ER+ and Ovarian Cancer so may be someone else could shed some light on that for you.
I wish you and your friend good luck with everything.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Hi slinky1
She was likely given premeds which would have included a steriod, as Chrissy said, thus the 'full of energy' feeling. It is usually very helpful however, if she feels it is too much, talk to her onc and the dose can be reduced.
I know nothing of the lymph nodes in the neck but I have heard, again, like Chrissy said, it is very tricky and more of a major surgery than lower lymph node removal.
Hugs to you for being a good friend and you should try and get her to join as well

There is no link that I am aware of with being hormonally positive and ovarian cancer. If she is highly positive, they may want to remove the ovaries and/or do a hysterectomy to reduce the hormonal activity since the cancer can feed on it. It will, however make the use of antihormonals a good option for treatment for her. HER2 positive is not something I am familiar with - hopefully someone will come on that has more info on that one.

thank you very much for replying lowrider54
we saw the oncologists registrar today she was happy sole rolling her eyes every time we asked a question!! but we managed to squeeze the answers of her. her scans came back clear apart for the areas we already knew about. so that was great news. they cant confirm that the gland in her neck is cancer but when she has finished the second block of 4 chemos she will meet with the surgeon to decide wether they will remove the gland ? its all a waiting game. she is er pos PR pos and HER2 pos so when she has tadaxol?? (not sure if thats right) they are going to run herceptin along side each time she has the chemo. at the moment she is having FEC chemo. the consultant also explained what er pr etc is today and you are right they may have to remove the ovaries at a later stage. at least we have a better understanding today and are feeling positive
thanks again for you help
lotsa love xxxx
