Help Please - Concerned
Hello All,
I had posted a related message in stage3 forum few weeks back. I'm posting again here today as some fear/uncertainity about our decision hanuting me. I'm wondering if anyone else have/had taken similar decision. Please share if you did.
My wife(Age 30) was diagnosed with triple negative stage3a BC 5 months ago.She had radical Mastectomy followed by 4 cycles of AC chemo. Further, she is supposed to undergo 35 cycles of radiation and 12 cycles of Taxol.
We are thinking of droping radiation and 12 cycles of taxol, instead we are deciding to go with Homeopathy (Dr Banerjee in Kolkotta, India) therapy. However, I'm concerned if we made a right decision. If some of you share your experiences/stories of alternate medicine success, it would help and encourage us.

I would talk to her oncologist about the relative benefit of taxol and radiation for her type and stage of cancer. I would be cautious of using individual stories, either from traditional treatment or alternative treatment, to make your decisions. Use the research -- look at population studies of Taxol and radiation and if you feel the relative risk vs benefit is worth not doing the treatment, then make the decision that way. That's my advice anyway.
This has some info about radiation choices.

Bala,
i can not make a decision for you and your wife and I would definitely speak to your oncologist but I will tell you my story. I am 45 years old and was diagnosed with triple negative cancer in January. My tumor was 4cm and it had spread to my lypmh nodes. I was told that my cancer was aggressive and is most likely to spread fast. I've had 4 A/C And 4 taxol followed by bilateral mastectomy. I am currently going through radiation treatment. The reason why I'm posting is because with triple negative cancers I was told that chemo, surgery and rads are the best options for me. When I got the pathology report after my surgery, I was told that there was no sign of cancer!! The chemo killed it all. The rads are to kill any micro cancer cells that may seeded in the skin that can't be detected. I don't regret my decision at all. Whatever decision you make, I wish you and your wife well. -
bala, im sorry you havent had much response here to your question, but i suppose people are hesitant to make non standard suggestions for someone else, and telling one's alternative story is a hard task as many factors can come into play. unfortunately we have to do our own research, and come to our own conclusions, though i know how frustrating that can be when we need answers quickly. i wish your wife every success with her treatment choices. i am interested in ayurvedic medicine. and im thinking of starting a topic on it in the alternative forum here to discuss it's merits. please research triple neg disease and treatment guidelines, im sorry i cant be of more help,
all the best to you and your wife.
