Insomnia
I have no problems falling asleep then I wake up in about 2 1/2 hours and I'm awake. I'm not waking up freaking out, just waking up. The Dr gave me some ambien, which works, but I can't be on that forever. This weekend I went without drugs and didn't sleep. Is this hormonal side effect from Tamoxifen? I just want to sleep all the way through the night. Any thoughts

I've been on Ambien for 2 years and don't plan on going off anytime soon. I take the generic ambien 0.5 mg each and every night half hou before bedtime. I have to say Sleep is never an issue for me as it was when i was younger. Don't know what i would do without it.

I also take Ambien. I hate taking yet another pill - between my medications and vitamins I have a larger inventory to keep up with than my grandmother at age 90
. However, I was already an insomniac when diagnosed so it has been wonderful to have something to keep me from waking up in the middle of the night with no one but infomercials to keep me company! Like SherriG said there are a number of natural aids out there to try (I think ChrissyB has had a lot of success with Melatonin), but if they don't work for you the Ambien is always there. Getting a sufficient rest is important for us - good luck in finding something that works for you!Tara

I use melatonin...it works like a charm....and has some cancer killing mechanism as well so it has multi-purpose.

Thanks. I have been having bad indigestion issues. I stopped the Ambien and they seem to go away. I will look into the melatonin. THANKS

Valium works well for me when I'm post call (work night shift 2 nights /week) - 5mg. They are leftover from my final surgery. What I'll do when I run out...I don't #*@(! know. My onc gave me Ativan during chemotherapy, but I don't want to get on that road, although I loved Ativan.

Insomnia sucks. I try to practice good sleep hygiene: darkened room, eye shade, white noise - and my sleep is rarely uninterrupted. ah well.
