This is short notice, but I'll be interviewing someone from the local chapter of the Komen Foundation for my radio show. Anyone have any questions you'd like me to include? Interview's at 11:30 EST

Ask about their budget... I read that 25% goes to research, 25% to awareness and the remaining 50% to their "overhead!"

What exactly does "awareness" mean at this point?  Has it not kind of become a huge, self-perpetuating marketing machine that has turned October into a quasi holiday with advertisers jumping on the pink bandwagon to promote themselves as much as anything?  How much of their budget goes to anything besides awareness????  Oh, and what were they thinking when they came up with Buckets for the Cure??!!    Deanna

Thanks. I had debated asking a few questions along those lines, but ended up leaving them out. If I had more time (ironically, this week is my last show - we had planned to wrap it up and replace it with a different one before I was diagnosed), I would have looked around at another possible organization to feature. I have mixed feelings on the whole marketing/awareness machine issue and have seen some interesting thoughts in other posts along those lines. It's just interesting now to be on 'this' side of things and start examining them a whole different way.

Ask them what they are doing to find /fund a cure. Too many stage 4 ladies waiting for good news ie: new treatments...not just treatments to try and and get stable but treatments to irradicate this damn disease once and for all. Jesus ....these women are on treatment for the rest of their lives. Makes my 4 rounds of AC pretty insignificant. Tell them to find a cure already.

    Best of luck

    Beth
