BRCA mets probability

My medical oncologist told me that my risk of bc recurrence was very high, so I opted for a BMX and hysterectomy. My risk of recurrence has been dramatically reduced, but I wonder about mets. Does being BRCA1+ increase the likelihood that my original bc will spead? I have looked for statistics or studies online, but I can't find anything.

I am also brca 1 positive and do not know the answer to this. I had no recurrence of my first cnacer 8 years ago, but had a new primary in my opposite breast. I should have done the bmx back then, but my docs at the time were not aggressive and I was in a state of shock.

I asked this question and was told the answer is no, it does not increase the risk of mets.  The chances of mets have everything to do with the cancer that you have.  Grade, receptors, positive nodes, etc.  One interesting item that my gynecology (sp?) surgeon mentioned (she specializes in genetic cancers) is that the stem cells used to generate the tissue around our fallopian tubes are the same as the breast stem cells.  That's one of the reasons we are encouraged to do an ooph with removal of the fallopian tubes.
