I'm xx weeks and I am craving....

This is so freaking dumb I can hardly stand it.  I've got a suggestion for a response

I'm xx (number of weeks since you've been diagnosed with BC, including the time you have been NED) and I'm craving a CURE!

Maybe we can make a point with this response!

I railed against it the last few years.  This year I joined in.  Too many family or friends were doing it out of concern for me.  Even if they didn't "get it" I couldn't face making them feel badlyabout it.  Count me a double chocolate chip crunchy cookie

kmmd-I have not joined in, but instead quietly delete the message asking me to join in. I don't bother lecturing my friends and family, because I know they are motivated by concern for me. If any of them ask me why I'm not participating, I will tell them, but I'm not going to go on the offensive.

I stated I'll take sweets anytime, but also consider giving to BC research or funding for screening everyone no matter age, income or insurance. Not bitchy just an advocate. :)

Ya it's offensive... A lot of cancer survivors lose their fertility to the treatments they need! Chemo, rads, surgery, hormones etc.  And to top this game off is the breast feeding aspect!

PLUS! If you are diagnosed while carrying a baby, that women may need to terminate the pregnancy so she can do chemo!

Michelle- I haven't seen it and am confused.  Are they trying to have women who are diagnosed saying what their food craving etc is?  Do you have a link?  I'll help you with getting rid if it if it;s what I think it is!

Thanks for the explanation!  It just started showing up among my Facebook friends' postings and I asked a general question if this was another silly breast cancer awareness game, and was told yes.  I never got an email with the "guidelines" so I just made up my own response.

I know their game is well-intended.  But it totally escapes me how this raises awareness, and what is the point of confusing MEN in the process?  If they want a message to go viral, make it something worthwhile that really sends an awareness message.  How about "I am woman, here me roar.  I don't want to worry about breast cancer any more.  We made it our mission to put men on the moon, a mission to cure breast cancer can't happen too soon!"

No confusion, message heard loud and clear!!!  By the way, my poetry is not good, but you get my point...lol!

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now!

My niece who a has six year old did this and had all of her family and friends excited. So it does not just affect breast cancer survivors.

I can't find the link my daughter sent me. I think it was to a blog by a photogragher called I Shoot People for a Living. The woman who writes that blog is infertile and did not see any humor in this or any of the breast cancer games. If I can find it I'll post it.On my daugter's Facebook page I posted many of the ways the breast cancer is not a game(chemo, hair loss, crippling side effects and never knowing if it will come back etc) Some people probably got more awareness than they wanted but they don't think about what this does to breast cancer survivors and infertile women.

I can't stand it either, but I just ignore it, because I do think my friends have good intentions. xo

I saw a few of these on my FB wall. Figured it was about bc based on previous years.

LRVing: I really like your response to it! Next time I see that someone has posted it, I'll respond: I'm 4 years 9 months and I'm craving a CURE!

    Thanks for the inspiration!

I just posted it! I changed the year and weeks to total weeks. I wrote that I had just heard about the new FB game about bc awareness that's designed to confuse men and that it confused me because I have no idea how it's connected to bc.

Within a minute, someone liked it!

And if I could, I'd LIKE it too!!!   Great addition to the "game" response!
