Not sure it matters, but.... ......
In the last week I have posted on two different topics here on the IBC thread. I did not get any responses so I am assuming it just didn't hit a cord with anyone. But I am posting an update just in case anyone has been reading the posts.
This morning I had an incisional biopsy in the my cancer breast. It was not for a lump but to take tissue and skin to see if we can determine what bacteria is causing my breast infections...........four in the last year. They think it is either mastitis or lymphangitis. I did ask this morning if it could be cellulitis. They keep assuring me it is not cancer (IBC) and nothing unusual appeared when he opened me this morning. So now we are waiting for pathology and hopefully they can identify the bacteria. I did ask why not a needle or punch biopsy instead of surgery and he said he just wanted to be sure he had enough tissue and skin sample and he wanted to see if anything else was going on.
So now the waiting game. I hope. we find some answers and confirmation that there is no kind of cancer lurking.....................................Caren

Hi Caren,
Sounds like your doc is on it. Pathology should show if there are bc cells in your tissue. Prayers for NO IBC.
Hugs,
Lexi

Hi Caren,
I'm so sorry no one saw your posts. It's not for lack of caring. The IBC board here is 90% populated by people in fear that they have IBC, and fortunately most of them don't!!! But those of us that are diagnosed with IBC just don't have many folks to speak with because there aren't that many of us, relatively speaking. Very few posts get more than a few responses unlike many of the other boards.
So having said that, I know you know how much the waiting game bites. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
Hugs,
Pam

Thanks Pam. I wasn't insulted that I didn't get responses. I knew if anyone had any helpful info they surely would have posted. I also know that IBC is in it's own category of breast cancer. I am sorry you are one who has been diagnosed with this. As I mentioned I have been uncomfortable with the recurring "infection" and need something more definiitive. So even though the primary reason for yesterday's surgery is to grow cultures and find the type of bacteria, they will also biopsy the tissue and skin samples. Hopefully this will be B9 and we can just go forward trying to find the culprit for the infections. I think I will have some definitive info. Thanks again for your response, and I wish you nothing but good health in your future...................Caren

Lexi,
Thanks for your support and good wishes. I will post when I have results.

Hi, Caren! I'm so sorry to hear about your ongoing problem with infections and the need for a biopsy. But it sounds like your doctor is being extremely thorough and you should finally get some answers. I don't usually read this forum, but I'm glad I happened to see this thread so that I could let you know that I will be thinking of you and praying for answers that are not IBC or any other type of bc. (((Hugs))) and caring thoughts... Deanna

Thanks Deanna. Results of biopsy just in.............. BENIGN...............WOOHOO!!! No evidence of cancer or precancer cells, but very inflammed tissue, which I am assuming has to do with the infection. It will take a few days to grow the cultures to hopefully identify the bacteria, but the news I needed to hear has come. I know we all feel a little happier whenever any of us hears the magic B9!!

NO IBC? BENIGN? That is the best news you can get. As a 4-yr IBC survivor, I wish I had seen your other messages. I guess I wasn't paying attention last week. I'm also in FL, down near Ft Lauderdale. Come back and let us know what you find out. Claudia

thegoodfight...congrats on the b9! Doing the Happy Dance for you! What a nice way to go into the holiday weekend.
I am so sorry your post didn't get addressed - being a stage iv, I don't usually offer anything as I don't know much about IBC.
Hugs sto you and may it never haunt you again!

Caren: Just saw your post. Sorry I can't be helpful in the IBC. I'm happy to see that it came back negative. Hoping they find what bacteria is causing the infection and get you started on the right antibiotic. Thoughts and prayers your way! Jean

Congratulations on the B9 results!
I am another person that just doesn't have knowledge regarding IBC and yes....I have noticed there aren't too many responses regarding IBC threads - Like Pam said - more of a rare type of BC - not many people on this board with it.
I so wish I could be more helpful at times but just am ignorant about certain types of BC and I hate to open my mouth and put my foot into it.

Thanks everyone for such beautiful responses to my good news. We are all always happy when we can share good news. I too do not really know a lot about IBC being an IDC survivor, but it is the breast cancer I fear the most. Of course I hope I never see any of them again. Once was enough for me. I do hope from these cultures they can identify the bacteria causing this ongoing infection. I didn't experience anything like this for the first two years out of treatment and then wham, I have had four bouts. It is time to find out what is causing it. Hopefully I will know something next week and I will post it so that if anyone ever has a similar situation they will have some helpful info.

Claudia, I am just about 100 miles due west of you on the west coast of Florida. Actually I think ,am directly across from the Delray, Boynton area. Been in Florida eight years now and it was a great decision. Only negative of course is being away from kids and grandbabies, but living in paradise keeps me smiling

Yay, congratulations Caren!!
