Herceptin and Heart Function

Hello all,

I have been on Herceptin for about 3 months and am 31 years old (today!). My Onc called me today with the results of my MUGA scan, saying that my heart function is down, and she wants to take me off Herceptin for 4 weeks to see if it rebounds. I also had a double mastectomy 2 weeks ago. I am wondering if the heart function issue could be from the anesthesia?

    I don't know about he anesthesia, but Herceptin can cause heart damge. Herceptin heart damage usually reverses itself so you may just need a short break from Herceptin.

    I saw a cardiologist today who seems doubtful about my going back on herceptin even though my onc thought it was still a possibility. I am getting a second opinion next week... just hoping to make it through these next months of herceptin uneventfully if that is still a possibility...
