My mom has breast cancer.

We found out my mom has stage 1 breast cancer a little over a moth ago.She's getting a double mastectomy in a week.I really just don't know what to do.My mom is a very weak person and for the last month i've been the strong one picking up her pieces,but now I find myself crying all the time.I'm just so scared and I don't know how to cope.

Elisee, I remember feeling just as you do.  It's a horrid paralyzing feeling and mostly because you are scared for your Mom.

All I can tell you is that my Mother spent as much time in stage 1 as stage IV - and she did a lot of beautiful living.  Your Mom may never reach stage IV at all - I hope she doesn't, and it is less likely.

I think your Mom is scared too.  She may not be as weak as you think - just scared - so just 'be there' and don't try to fix her because you can't.

Crying is ok - its normal - but just support her and take good care of yourself.  I am so sorry you are treading this path with so many others.  There are many of us daughters here, so stick around and vent.  Zeana
