The stable boy has left me :(
This last week has been another rough week. I posted last week that I had been in the hospital again. Several hours after that posting I had uncontrolled pain like I haven't felt in a long long time and was rushed to the hospital again. I also still have unexplained fever spikes daily that lasts for a few hours before leaving. The drs have run numerous test after test, after culture and are unable to find anything that would cause the fever. One of the drs said that when the cancer is active it can cause fevers such as mine - UGH!!! But..........they aren't sure so in addition to the IV antibiotics I am taking a prescription at home. I was due for scan follow ups in 2 months, but due to the pain I had a CT scan and it looks like while on Gemzar/Carbo my cancer has taken off like weeds in summer. It has moved into my ribs, thus the broken ribs and pain, the pluera, existing tumors are much larger and new tumors in the lungs. I am thankful that my body gave me signs to investigate this beast before another 2 months, but I am sad to know that I have progressed. I will be starting Navelbine next week, pending the fever issue.
I was really hoping for some more time before progression and am at a loss for words. I hate breast cancer and hate that I have triple negative breast cancer!!!

I am so sorry it has progressed. I hope you can take Navelbine and that it works miracles for you. Cancer is a big huge bully and I hate it too.
I have heard of people being retested for the Her 2 and coming back with different results. It might be something to ask your Dr. I wish I could offer you some comfort. Cancer doesn't like heat so maybe your fevers are frying the little b*%#@*^. That is my hope for you.
Hope you get some good news soon!
Hugs!
Michelle

I am so very sorry Jenn. Will be thinking of you and praying for you.
I don't know quite what else to say. Hoping that Navelbine will be the magic bullet for you. - Claire

Jenn, I so sorry to hear about your progression. Ugh, cancer sucks. And TN especially so! Did you have any positive receptors at all? Even a small amount can respond to anti-hormonals. I really hope the Navelbine treats you well and that it gets you NED. My MO has also said that she is excited about Halaven, so there are more chemos to try! Thinking of you.
-
Oh Jenn, I am sending big hugs to you.
-
Oh, Jenn, this really, really bites. I mean it's good to find out now instead of later, but you've been through SO much. Wish I could reach out there and give you a hug. Michelle has an interesting question with the HER2 thing. I had two liver biopsies over the course of this to see if my status had changed. I think Marybe actually DID show hers had become HER2 positive. Might be worth exploring sometime.
But i really hope the Navelbine does it's job and reverses course for your cancer. Gosh, you've got to get a break! Don't give up hope. It took me almost all the chemos to get to something that really showed any action.

Jenn, I am so sorry you've had more progression. I'm glad your body "talks" to you like that. Mine does too -- I had 2 areas of progression found while trying to find out the source of some pain, etc. It is good it spoke up 2 months "early" too!! I hope the Navelbine treats you gently and that it works wonders on the mets!! HUGS!!
-
Jen, this is REALLY the pits. I hope the Navelbine works well for you.
Sending love.

-
That STINKS!! Sorry to hear about the progression -- sending lots of good thoughts your way.
-
Damn.....I hope navelbine kicks some butt for you! I've been on it since April and even tho I complain about it......it is much easier than many of the other chemos (taxotere\carbo...bleck!) and I didn't lose any hair :> xxx00xx lisa
-
Dang it!!! What about a taxane??? How long has it been since you tried them? Can you do rads for the pain?
-
Jenn, I am so sorry about your progression. My onc had mentioned fevers could be a sign of tumor progression and I always have a little stress when I get one. I am sorry that Gemzar stopped working and I pray that this new drug will kick the mets to remission. Sending gentle hugs and hope your way. Dawn
-
Oh no! Let's hope navelbine delivers! Keeping you in my thoughts.
-
I'm very very sorry for your progression.
Navelbine shrunk my tumors and it's a pretty easy chemo to be on, I think. A little heartburn and my blood levels are wonky but almost no other SEs. Maybe that will be the thing to get you to NED. I know you are upset but we are pulling for you!
-
Jenn - hate that this happened, sending hugs your way.
-
Oh Jenn, you deserve a BIG break... I'm rooting for Navelbine to turn this around in the other direction!!!! Sending love and my best wishes...
Rose.
-
So sorry to hear this Jenn. I hope and pray that Navelbine does the trick for you. Hang in there. Take care.
-
So very sorry to hear this, but it is a good thing that your body is telling you to pay attention. Rooting for your fevers to go down so you can start that Navelbine.

awwww jenn.. so sorry.
-
Jenn so sorry to hear this, breast cancer SUCKS
Praying you get the fever under control and Navelbine to be the winning treatment! -
Lousy news. But Its part of the stupid dance we do with this crap disease. That damn rib pain is the worst! Hope you meet up with that scamp, the stable boy (or his good looking cousin Reggie) soon.
hugs, donna
-
That bites. I hope your new chemo kicks butt for you!
-
Jenn I'm really sorry to hear this news. Here's hoping the Navelbeine (sp?) does a whole lot of good and putss you back with the stable boy.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
Jenn, I am sending support and positive energy to you. Tell the docs to redouble their efforts and get that infection under control so that you can get on with a chemo tx. that stops the progression. You have lots of supporters here including your old Stage 3 friends who keep up with you and love you.
-
Really sorry about the fickle stable boy. At least the cancer wasn't loose for two months more, as you said. Go Navelbine!
-
Jenn, I am so sorry to hear this. It really sucks. Really hoping you get some relief soon.
Thinking of you.
-
Thank you all for your support, you understand what this feels like. I will admit I am having a little self pity time right now and just don't feel like putting on a smile and saying, "yes, it'll work and I'll stay positive". I am sad that I won't have the time that I want with my family, I am sad that my family will have to go through a long illness and watch me decline bit by bit. Watch me lose who I was and become that sick person..............
-
oh jenn, this really sucks, and it's hard to imagine looking at tht great picture of you. don't worry get on your pity pot, then follow your own advice "laugh until your belly hurts, then laugh some more" fingers crossed for the navelbine
-
Jenn, I am praying for a miracle for you. Every miracle is a correction.
-
Crap, this is so wrong. This is such a horrible disease, I just hate that this is happening to you, to all of us. When can you start you new treatment, that always bring in some hope. Sending you lots of positive energy.
-
Jenn - I am so sorry to hear this. It just sucks - no other way to say it.
I will be thinking about you and hoping that the next treatment goes better.
