This is my first post here, although i frequently read everyone else's.  I had BMX last week, path report today which included lymph node involvement 2/2.  The report says positive for metastatic carcinoma, up to .25 cm focus and direct perinodal  extension.  Anyone help me with this?  Does that mean metastic?

Thanks Smile

Sara, Welcome to BCO.com, the club no-one wants to join.

My path report says metastases to the lymph nodes but I'm stage three.  The word metastases only means it's spread to the nodes in this context and doesn't mean you have mets to other organs or bones.  That could only be diagnosed by scans or biopsy etc to the affected organ.

So you can rest assured this isn't proof of metastases or metastatic cancer!  If your doctors order bone scans and a CT or PET, they will form baseline scans to compare later scans against if you have symptoms that are concerning.
