Lidocaine resistant?

Is it possible to be resistant to Lidocaine?  My core biopsy had me crying and almost passed out until they stopped for a bit.  Then, yesterday the removal of my MammoSite catheter was worse pain than I had with childbirth.  I was crying, moaning out uncontrollably and close to the end just yelled "please, just pull it out!".  I am a very reserved person but was a maniac with the pain.

I totally don't want to scare anyone else!  Both of these procedures are usually painless so I know it is just me.  The docs were baffled at both procedures.  Could it be that the Lidocaine injections don't work for me?
