Turning Purple.

Options

I just finished 6 weeks of rads with 1 week of boosts along mastectomy scar line, and the burn is actually purple - is that normal?  It's a little scary.  It hurts like a regular burn, no worse.  Mostly just a bit annoying.  This part hasn't yet blistered and peeled.

And no, I haven't been hangin' out with Barney (Barney Sings About Radiation!), or been naughty at Willie Wonka's chocolate factory...(Violet!  You're violet, Violet!!)

    Hi Pamonymous,

Maybe my experience will be encouraging to you. I had a BMX a year ago with no recon. and one side radiated, so I can compare my mastectomy scars. They are not the same. In fact, the incision on the side that got radiation healed much better....just a very faint scar one year later. The non radiated side has a raspberry pink kind of raised incision line.I hated radiation and got burns that hurt, but radiation seems to have been good for scar lines!!! By the way, if you have pain from the radiation burns, take a few pain pills. It does get better in a week or two. And have some purple coolaide!!

Thanks Shirlann - almost all better now, red and pink rather than purple.  I appreciate your support - I was worried!

Hi Sepsebadger, you know my "hot" side looks so much better than my non-radiated side too - except for the burn of course.  I skipped the purple fruit drink but did have a margarita! Wink
