Tattoo ideas?
This may not be the right forum for this question, but does anyone here have a cancer-related tattoo? I'm looking for inspiration for my first tattoo.

I have a BMX and no recon. I have tattoos over my scars. Both are flowers with vines and leaves. One has a pink ribbon entwined in the leaves, the other has a peace sign. The tattoos make my scars bearable.
I would not get the pink ribbon again though. I guess when it first happened, I embraced the ribbon..not so much now.

Where are you thinking of putting it? Are you looking to cover up your scars or did you want a design somewhere else?

I love my scars, so I won't be covering them up. I'm thinking ankle, maybe foot or upper back/shoulder blade - still very much up in the air. I know for sure is that I do NOT want a pink ribbon (I'm just not a fan) and I'd like to encorporate a date (either the day I found the lump or my diagnosis date).

I am getting one right above my ankle on 8/27 and I looked for a bunch of different designs but if you are not a fan of the ribbon than I don't know that I can help you. Everything I searched for includes the ribbon as I really wanted to incorporate that.
Have you tried www.tattoojohnny.com? I got some good ideas there.
Good luck!

I do not have one, BUT if I were to get one I love the symbols of the Warriors in Pink. I had a post chemo party and got the stamp pad and there are all different symbols you can pick for what best describes you. I had friends stamp themselves with the Hearts symbol - which stood for those who stand strong with loved ones who battle the disease. There are twelve different symbols to choose from and I really think (unlike pink ribbon) you only recognize the symbol if you are familiar with the cause.
Just my two cents...

The one in my avatar pic is my one and only tattoo. It is on my left shoulder, the side I had my surgery on. The celtic stag is the emblem of the Scots clan Davidson, (my paternal grandmother's line). During treatment I did a lot of thinking about my warrior ancestors and of being strong and fighting hard. When it was all over, I got this. The words "Chan go foill" mean "Not yet".

Here is a link to a bigger picture, my tattoo was actually in a tattoo magazine! I got a big kick out of that and had a good laugh over it with my husband and twenty-four year old son! The text was removed in this picture. This link is through Pat Fish's Web site. She is a fantastic Celtic tattoo artist that does some amazing work. She is in Santa Barbara.
