I picked up a brochure today for a workshop presented by Rebecca Katz, the author of "The Cancer Fighting Kitchen" at Bastyr College on Sept. 23rd. I'm going to attend and thought I'd pass the word to others that may be in the area and interested. You can get more info. at www.rebeccakatzblog.com  I haven't read her book yet but have it on order and have heard great things about it. I'm hungry for any and all information about nutritional ways to help conquer this beast.

    Hi 4minniemousegirl.

So happy to hear that your results were b9!! So far, I have 2 other books I've started reading: "Anti-cancer, a New Way of Life" by David Servan-Schreiber and "The China Study" by T.Colin Campbell and Thomas M. Campbell (my Naturopathic Oncologist suggested this one to me). I've seen several other books that look good on Amazon.com but have started with these. I've always thought I was eating pretty healthy but since my diagnosis have seriously stepped it up and realized that there is SO much more I could do nutrition-wise!! Glad to hear you are taking proactive measures and I wish you all the best at staying B9 and never having to deal with this diagnosis!

    Be well!

I can attest to the cookbook.  I used it before BC because the recipes are so good.  There is also one that preceded "The Cancer Fighting Kitchen" called "One Bite at a Time", which is on the same premise. I would love to go to one of Rebecca's workshops, but there don't seem to be any in my neck of the woods.

Hello everyone, it would be great to attend that workshop.  I think I will be looking into those book.  I need to get as much info as i can get.  you can get so confused on what to eat, not to eat/drink, if your cancer is Tn or Estrogen positive.

Im in Central MA, will keep an ear out for us wen! What part of MA are you in, if you don't mind me asking.

Gonna try out my juicer I got for x-mas.  Had to get through chemo/rads so I can enjoy some fresh veggies/fruits!! Any good recipes for juicing?

msjag I'm on the Cape.  I don't think that "The Cancer Fighting Kitchen" has any recipes for juicers, but there are some great smoothie recipes.  Rebecca's trademark is her "magic mineral broth".

SeaShelly...I live south of Olympia so hey neighbor... Just wondering how you found the Naturopathic Oncologist?  I am 4 weeks out on my BMX and this is my 2nd cancer, but it was found early and no lymph nodes this time. Anyway Im looking for resources in WA.

I am also reading the ANti-Cancer A new way of Life. Good book, now I just need some good recipes to go with it all. I have cut out lots of sugar, white flour,  etc. adding organic meat/vegies as much as I can. In addition I have started to use Stevia/Truvia. Does anyone have an idea what kind of creamer would be best for coffee. I live in the PNW and love my 2 cups of coffee(cut down from 4-5) Truvia is fine for the sugar but I do like creamer and hoping I can find something that will be ok.

Hello Wandergo1... I see a Naturopathic Onc. at the Seattle Cancer and Wellness Center in Renton. He works along with the Medical Onc. He's extremely knowledgable and I'm so happy to have him on my team. Glad you caught your cancer early! It's just not fair to have to go through this twice. I too, love my coffee and am trying to limit myself as well. I use coconut, almond or rice milk in it - not thick enough, but does lighten it a bit.

Just received The Cancer Fighting Kitchen today and am excited to incorporate some new recipes. I'm getting pretty bored with my food lately and it's frustrating.

I love that cookbook so much I donated a copy to my RO's waiting room library. I love the recipes. I'm not much of a chef so some of the recipes seemed a bit time-consuming at first but I've gotten into the swing of things. I love the Kale + Carrots, + the broccoli dish + the curry hummus + the Anytime Bars. The chocolate-banana smoothie became my new comfort food (take that, Ben and Jerry's). I just bought "One Bite at a Time" but haven't tried the recipes yet. Looking forward to it.

"One Bite at a Time" is every bit as good.  Enjoy it!!  The chocolate banana smoothie has become a staple for me after I run.  I add strawberries to it.

Wow, never heard of this book or author before but I got an email earlier today from a parent at my school who is a bc survivor asking if I wanted to go to one of her workshops in Mountain View, CA. Will learn more about it and just might go! Caryn
