new here and SOOO worried:(
Hi everyone:) my name is Jessica, I'm 30 yrs old and very new here. Here's my issue...6 months ago my doc found lumps in both my breasts, in his words my breasts felt "very lumpy", I dont have health insurance so he told me to get that set up and to come back in for bloodwork and ultrsounds. I'm about to set up my insurance (now that i can finally afford it), but my symptoms have gotten really bad. My left breast is in constant pain:( The only way to describe it is by saying it feels like its being grabbed REALLY hard, the lumps that i can feel are hard and def feel like they are attached to something but i dunno what. The pain has also started to move into my left armpit and left shoulder. I have hardly any appitite, and when i do eat i'm not able to keep it down for very long most of the time. I'm just REALLY scared and could use any and all the advice out there. Thanks in advance:)

Hi Jess,
I'm sorry to hear you are in pain. Lumpy breasts can mean dense tissue. You may have fibroids or cysts. I had lots of cysts for over 20 years.
I know how worried you must be. When can you get in to see the doctor again?
Also, if you don't have insurance you may want to look into your local Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Program in your area. I'm sure you can find information about it at your health department. You can be covered by their program as long as you are diagnosed through them. They will provide the mammogram for you.
Keep posting and let us know how you're doing.
hugs,
Bren

thank you so much for responding Bren:) I'm hoping to be able to get in to see my OBGYN within thge next 2 weeks. I've been seeing this same dr for the past 5 years and he has NEVER felt any lumps in the past, just all of a sudden both breasts are lumpy now. I have no clue whats going on...it's such a scary feeling. the lumps can be quite painful, especially when i try to feel them. The minute i grab the lumps to feel how soft/hard they are within 15minutes i'm EXTREEMLY sick to my stomach. I have done soooo much research over the past few months and the more i research the more i worry this is cancer. Do you know if having bloodwork done is a normal "first" step? Most of what i read tells me that mammo's and u/s are first steps. the fact that he wants to do bloodwork right away kinda worries me, but i guess it'll give him a better idea on whats going on with me. Another question for ya....i have found some sites that say a home pregnancy test could give a false positive if breast cancer is in a person, do you know anything about that? I just feel that the sooner i know what i'm dealing with the sooner i can decide on how to handle all of this. thanks again:)

Hi Jess .. I hope someone comes along and can explain about the blood tests. I didn't have any, just the mammo and a biopsy. I think it depends on what kind of tests he's doing. I've never heard of the home pregnancy test thing .. but I'm a lot older than you are too. You might want to post that question further down the page on the Young Women's Forum.
My daughter-in-law is about your age and she had some of the same problems you're having. She had a mammogram and U/S and then a biopsy. It turned out to be a benign fibroadenoma.
I'm hoping the lumps and bumps you have are simples cysts .. they can be painful. I had some large cysts at one time that were painful like what you've described.
Keep us in the loop about what's going on. Also, think about posting in the Young Women's forum too.
hugs,
Bren
