Hyperthermia + Low Dose Radiation Anyone???

Wondering if anyone here has received hyperthermia + radiation?  Especially IBC patients?

This is when the cancerous area is exposed to high heat, then lower doses of radiation are given to the same area.  It is said to be more successful than just normal doses (whatever that may be) of radiation alone.

Particularly wondering if anyone had this in lieu of mastectomy/ies.  This would be given to an IBC patient PRIOR to surgery (in hopes that it will be in place of surgery).  Because this is in reverse of the normal treatment procedure (surgery, then rads) for IBC, if this isn't successful, damage could be done by not having the surgery.  That's the dilema.

This is for my sister, who is going to have her last chemo treatment next week (#6) and her onc. has told her to schedule surgery (not sure, but probably BMX) in a month.  She is absolutely freaked out & doesn't want surgery.  We had found out about hyperthermia a couple of months ago & have always been interested in it, but now the time has come since she would have this instead of a mastectomy.

NOTE: This is a cross post - I also posted this in the radiation thread, but thought it would also be good to post here since this is the IBC thread.  Sorry if this causes any confusion/problems.
