flaxseed

Found this at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center+er positive cancer+flaxseed

Since flaxseed has phytoestrogenic effects, patients with estrogen receptor positive (ER+) type of breast cancer should use flaxseed with caution. top

Since omega 3 eggs are fed with flaxseed can we use them? bc hugs Jinky

jinky, I'm no expert, but I think eggs are fine. I make sure I eat the hormone free free range ones.

I specifically met with the dietician at my clinic to discuss how ER+ plays into my diet and she suggested flaxseed. I feel great whenever I take it in my smoothie made with Greek yogurt, rice protein powder, flaxseed, etc. I hope she has her information correct. It is hard to know these things!

J-bug, you are taking tamoxifen?  (and/or did the dietitian discuss that?). I have Qs about the interaction of flax and that drug.

From what I have been reading...I thought ER/PR+ gals should avoid flaxseeds.  Why does this have to be so complicated??  I wish someone could just tell us what to eat and avoid for sure.....ugh!

The answer is that they can not. So, that means that we have to decide, for ourselves.

I, myself, had a 2cm IDC, ER+/PR+/HER-. With my FOCC, I probably have  countless grams of Omega3. I think it's like over 12 grams/day. But all from plant sources, the flaxseed. But, According to the "MIC," and in this instance, Memorial Sloan-Kettering I should be dead.

    Yet, here I am, alive.

And not only am I alive, I have never felt better in my entire life.
