Hi , I was diagnosed 6/26/11 IDC 1 cm stage 1 grade 2 no node involvement and er+PR+ and Her 2+. Chemo to start 9/6/11 TCH every 3 weeks for 18 weeks , followed by radiation and then hormone therapy. Is that the same as your treatment? Oncologist said I have a very good prognosis. Any comments or help would be appreciated.

    Rosey:

Mine was the same, except I am Grade 3.  I had BMX so no radiation for me.  Otherwise, treatment will be pretty much the same.  Yes, it is considered excellent prognosis, per my GYN.  You might want to read the Taxotere, Carboplatin & Herceptin thread in this forum.  There is alot of good information there.

You won't get all of the side effects.  My first chemo was the worst so far, and I have done 4.  Just schedule a couple days of doing nothing, and get your rest.  You'll do fine.

I just completed Herceptin only treatment for my breast cancer (lumpectomy plus rads). Although the first onco I saw recommended chemo plus Herceptin, the second opinion onco said it was "eminently reasonable given the toxicity of chemo" to go for Herceptin only. Not sure why so many people are so eager to subject themselves and others to chemo.  It's not only the side effects but the after effects we need to consider. This may be blasphemous to some but I think we should realize their is some profit motive in chemotherapy and the oncotype testing as well!  I had no side effects with herceptin and testing has shown no damage to the heart.  T
