It has been five years today that I got the horrific diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer. I truly never thought I'd see this day!!!   I hope this is encouraging to a newly diagnosed triple negative reader. This board was so helpful to me in so many ways.

For some reason five-years out really hits home...My 5-year anniversary was last year this time (JUly 24th) and I was surprised at how emotional the day was for me....I am so happy for you and I wish you endless more days of exploring your beautiful life.....

Sorry so long to respond Titan!  Ok here goes.   I have had my fair share of scares, including the diagnosis of a new primary cancer, non-small cell lung, two years after the breast diagnosis!  It was caught by a routine PET scan and very small. I had my left upper lobe removed, no chemo or radiation. So far so good!  I was a smoker.   I also have developed a very large, hard "lump" in my right breast, which was the site for the original cancer.  After CT, MRI  and ultrasound of the breast docs determined it is fibrotic tissue from radiation treatment.  My tumor markers remain stable and so does the "lump".   I don't drink alcohol.  I don't run but do like to walk when I can.  My diet hasn't changed.   I originally had lumpectomy, 18 rounds of chemo and then the six weeks of radiation therapy.  I pray a lot!  I try to enjoy each day as I know how very lucky I am!!!   I do still see the onc and radiation onc too but only every six months.   I still have my port.  Almost afraid to have it removed, don't wanna "jinx" anything.   Goofy I know but the fear is still there, always will be I suppose.  I did a clinical trial when I was diagnosed so I have been followed for that as well.  I had six rounds of FEC and then 12 of Taxol as opposed to the 4 rounds of adriamycin/cytoxan.  And finally, I am now a "gram of 6"!!!!!!   Hang in there ladies.  I never thought I would see five years out.  :-)
