Pevis and Abdomen Cat Scan

My C reactive protien is steaderly climbing, had blood work that ruled out autoiimmume disease or infection so now they are looking for mets. I had a Pelvis and Abdominal Cat Scan yesterday for abdominal pain and bloating. Now it is pins and needles waitng for the results. I hate this. I just want cancer worries to go away.

I just had one for pain, swelling and bloating and it showed nothing.

However, an early one caught my liver mets, even though that wasn't causing the symptoms.  So  I guess I'm glad I had the pain and bloating, even though we still don't know what it is.  I guess it's nothing!

 Waiting is the worst. What bloodwork did they do to rule out infections?

Thanks for your kind thoughts and I hope Hardley's tests are also  negative, I was glued to the phone today and never got a call about my cat scan so I am still anxious. I wish doctors realized how anxious you are waiting for test results.The blood tests, I had included a complete blood count and then all kind of autoimmune tests to check for rheumatoid factor, ANA screen, lupus, celiac disease, sjogen's antibody  which I was having some symptoms to suggest and that can raise your C reactive protein

Agnes, I hope you get your scan results and that they are wonderful! I am about to get the same battery of blood tests as I have really high globulins and low albumin with a dismal A/G ratio, so they are going to be screening for inflammation and autoimmune issues. I have a feeling I will probably be dx'ed with a thyroid condition. I can deal with that, as long as it is not liver/kidney issues or mult myeloma (which my dad passed from).

Hadley - my you have been through the ringer with this place. I am so sorry to hear that everything, even just getting an Rx filled, has to be soooo difficult. That is just pure incompetence on their part. Unbelievable!! I don't blame you for being enraged. I hope your neck surgery goes well, and I will be sending positive thoughts your way!

Agnes...I have had several tests lately.  One thing I have learned is that I tell the radiology dept that I will be picking up results the NEXT DAY!!!  I don't care if a doctor has time to call me back...but the blood work I recently have had, at the Rheumatoids office I was "chill" on getting whenever.  Their office is GREAT about putting results in the mail for all their patients in the next two weeks.

I had one Doc call me once to tell me what my MRI showed of the Breast and I wanted to say "Listen B----, I have already read it three days ago, when I picked it up, and already called and referred myself to the Johns Hopkins Breast Center!  I was so grateful they fit me in THAT SAME WEEK!  Can you tell I am having a bad day?  HAHA... She then says, I will leave a referral for you to "follow up in a month" with another MRI??? US???  I say "OK" and in the month had already taken the bull by the horns and had my biopsy done and diagnosis made.  At Hopkins they biopsy suspicious things the SAME DAY if needed.  Their annual mammograms are PROFESSIONAL in that they let you know as soon as their done "see you next year!"   Healthcare is a mess and is getting worse.  Hopkins had long wait times, but they refered me to a PS "Class" and I remember thinking....gosh...I never learned all this crap in Nursing School, it is all so new   I met people there dealing with reccurance in scars, and tears were streaming down my face, but left with a packet of information and MANY follow up calls from their nurses...working through my feelings of how to figure it out.  One referred me here to this site.  Ok, now I see why they are recognized as leaders !  Not perfect but Hadley is right...someone, somewhere better figure more of the S-- out!   Timing is key....and it is ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION!!!

Thanks for all your good thoughts. The Cat Scan showed 2 large solid masses which they are pretty such are  uterine fibroids -Thank God. They do want me to get a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound to be 100% certain but I think they are fibroids. I will float my eyeballs and get the ultrasound (they make you drink 32 ounces of water and make you wait into you really have to pee and then make you wait some more so I have learned not to drink the water until I get into the hospital parking lot since it gets pretty painful to have a prolonged stretched out bladder with my interstitial cystitis). They are also looking  for an infection somewhere as the cause of my high C Reactive protein but my CBC is good.

Fibroids suck! But I am glad that is all this turned out to be.  I just had 12 fibroids removed in April (they grew like wildfire on the Tamoxifen).  I sympathize with the 32 oz of water, hopefully it will be over very soon!
