Books that help alleviates the youngsters

Dear all,

My sister has been batteling breast cancer for 12 years. She is actually on her 3rd Chemo now and as you can imagine this is taking a heavy toll on her and the family as a whole. Her son turning 18 this year is having a hard time dealing with the situation. He is so negative, agressive with his colleagues, depressed..etc I am trying to give him support as much as I can but I live far away from them and I can not do much. Today, he told me he started smoking and drinking.....He actually was asking me if I reccomend any books that are written for people in his situation and what they should do about it and how to deal with it. 

I appreciate if you can share and reccomend books that addresses his situation and guide him navigate through all this. he will go to univiersity soon and I feel he needs a lot of support-
