Broken Breast Blood Vessels

I had radiation 3 years ago and I have just started having little broken blood vessels below my scar where I had radiation.  Has anyone had this?  I go for my mammogram in 3 weeks, so hopefully if it is anything they will see it, but 3 weeks is a long time to wonder if this is normal or not.

Thanks for your input.

Do you think it could be a normal aging thing? I started getting broken blood vessels all over my chest and abdomen in my 50s, long before I had BC.

Hi. I think it a late side effect of radiation called telangiectasias. These can appear many years after radiation. I also suspect you had a boost to the scar area and that is why you are now seeing these blood vessels. Not to worry though, if it becomes a problem it can be removed by a dermatologist and laser treatments. Try googling breast radiation telangiectasias and look at some pictures.

Good luck. I start rads 7/25.
