has anyone had Accelerated Partial-breast Irradiation

Hi all.

I  have to get set  up  for CT scan  for marking on,  I  guess,  whole breast  radiation.  I  don't want  to do  radiation at all  until after I  see my Oncotype score but that result will exceed to 100 day window to start radiation  so  I  will have to go forward without the report.

What's  is like to  just  do  partial?  Were you happy  with  the minimum  down time and what did  the tattoos  look like?   I dread  having my skin all marked  up  just as much as having  the treatment.   I  tried again and again to  find Internet pix  for radiation of  the breast  and only found ONE WOMEN  that kept a photo  diary of her WHOLE breat  radiation.

It's a shame there's not more pix  of  radiation treatment that  women are willing to share--even  with  their heads  cut  off.     Sheesh!!!

I had partial breast radiation (Mammosite) last July.  There were no tattoos, just little marks done with a permanent marker then covered with tape.  Honestly, as far as external signs of the radiation, I had just the little incision in the underside fold where my breast meets my chest.  It healed perfectly and no one could see it.  That said, I had a recurrence this winter and there's a possibility that I might not have had a recurrence if I had done external beam radiation.  Be sure the short course of radiation is right for you.

I also had internal radiation. So far so good. I noticed you had one positive node. I would be a bit concerned doing internal with that diagnosis in my HO.

The tattoos for whole breast radiation are small dots, I have three dots.  They also used plastic cirlces with "X"s on them.  I wish now that I had taken more pictures of my entire treatment. NJ
