A really big lump under opposite armpit.

Hi all,

diagnosed in Aug 2007, bilateral mastectomy, followed by 6 each of dose dense AC and T.  No radiation, because of the BM.  Reconstruction with expanders and silicone implants completed in Dec 2008.  Almost 3 years of Tamoxifen, until side-effects got too bad, then had complete hysterectomy in Dec 2010, and started Arimidex in Jan of 2011.  For the last 2-3 months have noticed a fullness in the unaffected side (simple mastectomy with only 3 lymph nodes removed, none of which were positive.)  Other side had the positve lymph nodes, and the large cancer in the breast... This morning, when I was putting on my bikini, noticed a lymph node in unaffected side the size of a golf ball.  This thing is huge.  Showed it to my husband, who is orthopedic surgeon, he said get thee to the ER.  I think I can wait to have appt with onc. tomorrow.  Any of you have this particular symptom of recurrence? The node or nodes don't hurt, but it is the size of a golf ball or small egg in a very short period of time... Trying not to freak out... any thoughts?

Thanks,

Tammie

Tammie, instead of BC it could also be an infection so please don't go freaking out until you have had it checked.  I know, once you have BC everything becomes BC but nodes swell for a whole lot of other things too.

    Love n hugs.  Chrissy

    Chrissy,

thank your for the quick response...

I am a soon to be nurse practitioner and my husband is a surgeon.  Have no other symptoms of infections, no fever, teeth are fine, no malaise, no nothing except this giant lymph node from hell.  I'm not sure what else it could be.  Will try to think positive.
