I am finishing rad in 2 days.  I have very slight redness, a little itchy but no serious burns.  I was prescribed Radiaplex and did exactly as the instructions said.  I used a liberal amount and began prior to rads, took it with me to radiation and used it immediately after, and used it 3 times a day including days off (weekends).....good luck.

Hi Pattibear: usually they start you off with 100% aloe and then aquaphor for nights - the aquaphor jar is not as gooey as the tube... When I started actually pinking up - they gave me X-clair samples and Radiagel to try.. I personally do better with X-clair - it is a prescription and is spendy if you don't have insurance..hence the reason the RO is giving me samples. Others have used things like emu oil, and miaderm.. usually the RO will give you whatever one you like as a prescription...just ask.. If you keep slathered you probably won't get bad...

Make sure you aren't washing with ivory soap though - RO told me it is too drying and use unscented dove... good luck - You can do this!!!

Jeans cream. The best! I have had 28 rads. with no redness or soreness. Google the name. It's great. Someone on this board recommended it.

BTW, if possible, it's best to go in with perfectly clean skin (nothing on it). For some reason, I thought the goal was to have dry skin (no moisture) but was putting lotion on my skin about 2 hours before my rads, and that was much too close to treatment. Once I stopped, my skin problems cleared up. You can put 100% aloe on immediately after rads treatment to cool the skin.

Re: the fatigue, sleep, sleep, sleep. My RO nurse suggested power-naps midweek (1-2 hrs in the afternoon. Really). Also, walking 1/2 a day boosts your energy, so I prioritized that (walked in the morning when I had the most energy). I never had nausea. Good luck. You can do this!
