Some Advise Please???
I had my surgery June 24th. I had clear nodes and clear margins. DCIS grade 3... My BS did not reccommend radiation. I asked to see one which I will be doing July the 6th. Due to the fact my Mom died from breast cancer and my sis had both breast removed last year.
I have started taking aramidex for the next 5 years. I know some of you have oncologist theripist etc...No one has suggested I see anyone. Not sure why.
I also have LE in my left leg ( From Trauma). Would like to prevent it from happening in my arm if at all possible. I have never even had a garment to wear or the proper treatment due to the fact that I have no insurance. In Tenn. if you have breast or ovarian cancer they put you on presumptive Tenn Care. So the only treatment I have from my family Dr. is pain medication but w/o insurance we could do little else.. Now that I have Insurance even if it is only temporary I would like to take advantage of it and try and get the treatment I deserve.I would appreciate any help you could give me to ask the radiologist or any help on trying to find an LEcertified therapist. Thanks so much...
lisa
I know many of the ladies have several types of Dr's. or theripist. Was wondering if someone might help me with the questions I need to ask b/c I am so lost as I am sure most of you are at first. LOL It is a bit overwhelming. Still struggling everyday with it. Not even sure if I am explaining things correctly but trying.

Not sure how old you are, but if you were over 40 you should have qualified for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. I had a very small area of Grade 3 DCIS, and I had 32 radiation treatments following my lumpectomy. Treatment plans do vary, but usually a more aggressive cancer may have more aggressive treatment. I finished my five years of tamoxifen last year.
I have not seen my surgeon in a couple of years, but I see my medical oncologist every 6 months, will probably go to once a year after the next appointment. I get an annual mammogram and an annual MRI.
Please check with the Patient Advocate Foundation and Livestrong to see if they have any resources to help you with out of pocket expenses. You deserve to have the very best of care, and should not go without. I would think you should qualify for a sleeve as you are obviously at risk with LE in your leg.
Hugs to you. I know this is a very scary road to navigate.
