I had my 2nd taxol dose dense treatment today, the first one 2 weeks ago, my side effect was immediate vaginal bleeding although it was light it was unusual, 36 hrs after treatment severe pelvic pain along with continued bleeding, called onc they said they never heard of this, and to take pain meds if needed, the pain was so bad before the meds that I could not sleep, severe cramping for 3 days, spotting stopped after 3rd day as did the pain.I would like to know if there are any ladies out there that have had this happen. Today is my 2nd treatment and if it happens again that's it I'm done with taxol and have decided not to finish last 2 treatments, are there any ladies out there that opted out if the taxol and if so for what reason.

I've had 12 weekly Taxols and haven't had that.  I do have a Mirena IUD though too.  I wouldn't take no for an answer though and I'd go to my gynecologist too.  Before you stop treatment, make sure there's nothing else going on coincidentally.  Good luck!

I had my 1st dose dense Taxol June 30. Within 36 hours I had severe pelvic area pain similar to labor cramping. I contacted my onc and arranged for an ultrasound. We discovered fibroids in my uterus. My onc had never heard of the pain side effect I had. What he speculates is possibly my body is fighting menopause because of the chemo and my infusion happened to possibly coincide with my period ( I had an ablation a few years ago because of heavy periods so now I really have no idea when I have my period). The combination of the fibroids, menstrual cycle start, and fighting of menopause could have triggered my uterian contractions. They were horrible. No pain relief helped. I had my 2nd infusion and have not had the same experience-luckily! My onc did prescribe serious pain killers as a standby but I have not had a need for them. Hope this helps with some explanation.

Btw...I did have a trace of a period 1 week out from my first Taxol treatment. It was the first period I have had in years since the ablation. Hang in there. We both need to get through this to be cancer free.

I had DD Taxol and with the first round on about day 3 I ended up having really bad cramps, which surprised me because I don't have periods any more because I had an ablation several years ago, although I still ovulated.  After a few days they ended, then I started to get hot flashes.  Talked with my oncologist and she believes the chemo was putting me into chemo-pause.  I never had issues with cramps again, but still have the hot flashes.  I finished chemo almost 4 months ago and my oncologist checked my hormone levels and believes that I am probably now in menapause, which I am honestly OK.

I hope your second round went well.
