Just wanted to mention that I decided to quit taking the baby aspirin.  I was getting some serious acid reflux and was taking ranitidine (Zantac) at least two times a day.  Finally had an inspiration (duh!) that it might be the aspirin.  Stopped it and the heartburn is gone!  Onc is OK with this because it's really not clear if the aspirin helps or not.

I wish my fix for it were so simple. I'm not taking baby aspirin :(

I'm back on Prilosec after being off it for a couple of months. During that time, I had to be VERY careful and could eat no later than 3 hours before I went to bed. If I even had a drink of water just before bed, I would get AR. And certain foods were definitely triggers, but they were too common to eliminate from my diet.

    So back to the omeprasole.

Well I hope that heartburn stays gone and stopping the aspirin helps.  I posted a few weeks ago, that I was having stomach issues too mine was H. Pylori bacteria, not GERD.  I've completed my 2 wks of 2 different antibiotics and feel like a new woman...no more problems!!  Were you told by your dr to take the baby aspirin?  If so, what was it for?  Just curious, I was never told to take one.

    Hey Christy,

Just to be the devil's advocate, I too had gastro issues from aspirin.  I was taking the full 325mg 5 days a week and was having terrible stomach pains.  After a full GI check up we figured out that I was taking NON coated aspirin (was trying to save a buck, go figure).  Switched to coated and I am good to go!  Figure if it can't hurt me I might as well try it.

    Take care,

    Sharon

Sharon - It was the coated aspirin.  If given a choice I always go for easier-to-get down pills.  Just like my Vit D.  I tried the powdered pills and almost through the bottle out.  After I got through the bottle I made sure my DH knew that if he was the one making the drug run that it has to be the gel type.

Jenny - There was an observational study that showed a potential reduction of breast cancer recurrence among women who were taking aspirin daily.  So a lot of oncs added that to the daily pill list.  But there isn't any hard facts showing a correlation.  So it you can take it and it doesn't cause any problems then it won't hurt and it might help.  But if it hurts -- quit!

Also, for those of us on Tam. it reduces the potential side effect of blood clots

Good to know...I wasn't aware of this.  I'll be putting that on my list of questions for the onc Smile
