Dizziness
I had my rads yesterday around noon as usual. Then I went grocery shopping and straight home. I decided to rest for an hour or so and when I woke up I was dizzy and extremely tired. I feel a bit better today but still no energy. Is this the dreaded "fatigue" setting in? I just finished my 18th treatment and have been doing really well so far. Is this the way I can expect to feel for the remainder of treatment? Is dizziness common with rads?

I had a horrible time with dizziness. My rad onco said it was not rads so it must not be common. My med onco said it was rads and that it would go away about a month after rads - she was right.

Is your RO or MO doing weekly or bi-weekly blood counts? My RO insists on it. I was having issues with dizziness and it ended up happening right around the time that my white cell counts dropped. My Neutrophils ended up going down to 900 and I had Neutropenia and had to stop rads until they came back up.
It may not typically happen with rads, it did with me, but it could be because I had my exchange surgery 10 days after my last chemo infusion, then started rads 3 weeks later.
Oh, I have not had the dreaded 'fatigue' yet. Still waiting for it.

I've had 7 rads and starting getting dizzy around number 3 or 4. The dizziness is making me nausous. My rad-onc said this has nothing to do with rads but it's helpful to know there are other women having the same SE. I thought it was an inner ear problem but think now that it isn't. I've got a lot of rads to go, another 5 weeks, so I hope this dizziness doesn't stay with me. The nurse told me fatigue would set in around the time after the 2nd week.

Sounds like I need to call my MO on Monday. My RO is not doing any bloodwork at all. I thought I was supposed to have an appointment with my MO in June but when I called the office they said there was none scheduled. The girl I talked to said she would call me back or if she didn't I was to call her back the following week. I just plain forgot about it until now.

ProudMomwife, you,re funny, i hope it never catches up to you and that you,re miles ahead

I never really had dizziness per say, but a very strange thing began to happen to me while i was being radiated, it,s as if i was passing out, not sleeping. Don,t know if it was claustrophobia, but did not like the feeling

I was dizzy during rads...during the late afternoon. I was also told it had nothing to do with rads. Right.
-
geewhiz, did the dizziness continue beyond the late afternoon of rads? I have it every day. Is yours like that?

The dizziness is a S/E of the rads. The drs. deny everything...they say the only thing you get is fatigue and the rads burns. Please go on the Rads thread for the month. All the sistas will have lots of info for you on the S/E of what really goes on during the rads.I dont want to scare anyone because everyone is different...I didnt get the fatigue till the end of tx.but many sistas get it right away. And when everyone is finished the rads please come to the thread AFTER RADS.....There is soooo much info there too. This too shall pass.God bless everyone fighting this giant monster.huggggggggggs K

I'm glad to be able to know I'm not the only one who's getting dizzy. About two hours after I got home this morning from rads, I felt all woozy and dizzy but thankfully it didn't last long. These forums are great for helping me know it's not all in my head...

My RO did agree that the dizziness was a SE of the radiation.

Ladies - I found the dizziness was helped by eating my protein .... When i didn't eat and drink after radiation - that was when I got dizzy... Just a thought for you all to consider...

I was dizzy & weak during rads. I guess it's because it made me anemic with low white & red blood dellw.
