Blocked tearducts from Taxotere.

Options

I'm starting to get really annoyed (well, sad and scared actually) by my teary eyes; I've had 3 Taxotere (dense dose) so far, and I remember a month ago I had teary eyes only for a couple of days, but this time it's been going on for 9 days straight...It's driving me nuts and keeps getting worse! I looked it up on the internet, and apparently I've got blocked tear ducts; PLEASE tell me this SE is reversible and that I won't need surgery to open up the ducts or something like that...I saw that with toddlers it normally goes away by itself, but then again it depends on the cause. Would it make any difference if I ask to lower the dose (my last one!!) next Tuesday? I really can't see what I'm doing when I'm typing or taking the stairs, I'll surely not drive and be a danger on the road.

Thank you for experiences and tips.

Carola, have you reported this to your onc?  I remember a lot of annoying tearing after my 3rd & 4th Taxotere infusions, but I don't remember how long it lasted, and as annoying as it was, I don't recall it being a hindrance to getting around.  If yours is that serious, I think I would err on the side of caution and report it to your onc ASAP.    Deanna

Oops, I'll copy this topic on the chemo forum, couldn't see what I was doing ;-)

Thanks Deanna! Will do. I have an appointment Tuesday, but will call them first thing in the morning, maybe they'll have a miracle remedy waiting for me for my last chemo...
