Breast Rash

Options

Hi! I'm new to this site. I just hit 5yrs since being diagnosed with DCIS. I had bi-lat mastectomy and havent had any issues. However, about 3mos ago a rash appeared on my breast that had cancer. I've been to my Dr and am now on my 3rd ointment as she believes its eczema but Im getting concerned. Has anyone ever had a recurrence start in the form of a rash? Thanks!

Mac, I don't know the answer to your question, but I would share your concern.  When you say you've been to your doctor, do you mean your primary doctor or breast surgeon?  If I was in your situation and ointments weren't working, I would want my breast surgeon to take a look and advise if a skin biopsy should be done.

Hopefully, this will bump your thread for more responses...  And welcome to BCO!    Deanna

    Hi Mac,

I agree, you should be seeing a breast specialist. They may refer you to a derm who can do a skin punch biopsy. Most likely it isn't a recurrence, but the agony of waiting and wondering is so emotioanlly draining.

    Take care and remain proactive!

    Mac

Last year I had a rash appear on my breast that had the cancer.  It was a darkish red almost purple kind of spotty rash.  I don't recall it hurting but freaked me way out because I was thinking IBC or skin mets.   My onc looked at it and said it is probably something that showed up from radiation.   It went away after a while and I haven't seen it come back again.

It is worth asking about but try to relax (yeah right) until you talk to your doctor.

I would advise going to a breast specialist and/or getting a biposy.  I had a skin recurrence on my cancerous breast -- seemed a little like excema, except there were little "nodules" or bumps that were cancer.  It's worth checking out, best case scenario, it will give you peace of mind.  Good luck!  I"m keeping my fingers crossed.

Thank you so much to all for your responses! I went to my reg doctor and know I should go to the surgeon or Onc. I actually have a regular checkup w/my oncologist on July 1 so I will discuss w/him! It will definitely give me (any my hubby) peace of mind. Natasha - were the nodules around the rash (just curious) as I have had a few very, very small  skin/neutral colored nodules appear below and around the same breast! Craziness worrying about stuff but will get resolved on the 1st!! Thanks again to all!!!
