Biopsy sample colors?
Hello All,
I am 28 years old, will be 29 next month, been roaming this site for weeks now. I am considered high risk by family history. My mother was diagnosed at age 46. So about 3 weeks ago I found a lump on my left chest. I tried to rationalize it was nothing but went to the doctor to be safe. I had an ultra sound the next day. The doctor that reviewed my ultra sound was pretty convinced that it was fibroadenoma. She said I was young, no need to do biopsy, just followup in 6 months.Told me 3 lumps were found. I mentioned family history and her whole demeanor changed. When I followed up with my PCP the report only showed 2 lumps and recommended a biopsy. Yesterday I had a core needle ultra sound guided biopsy. The first lump was very mobile, the one I felt originally. Never felt the second one. I'm praying that they are B9. The samples were white, nurse said that was good. Did you see the color of your samples? I also have markers left in each spot. No one told me about the markers until the procedure, is it expected that they remain there forever?
Thanks for any responses, I guess the wait is getting to me

Hi, I had a ultrasound guided vacuum assisted core needle biopsy . I never saw the color of the biopsies, but the color was reported in the pathology report.
They put in markers of where the biopsy was. That helps when they do mammograms or US in the future for benign findings or to help locate the mass for treatment if needed.
I had biopsies on both breasts, the right was IDC and the left was benign stromal sclerosis. I had a six month US follow up on the left -- after completing chemo for the right. The clips helped identify the area of the biopsy -- the sclerosis had cleared up -- the clip assured that right area was examined.
Here's hoping that all your results are B9.

Good luck, and hoping for B9 results for you!
My core samples were tan. I have not heard if color matters, but at least the radiologist thought yours was good. The markers do stay there so they can continue to monitor on future mammos/ultrasounds/MRIs.

Hi! So sorry that you're having to go through this and wait for results. I feel like I read somewhere that white was fat and that's a good thing...don't quote me on that though, just something I think I read in passing somewhere. Hoping that you get a B9 result!!!!

Color just isn't an indicator of cancer in a needle biopsy. You can get fatty tissue (yellowish), bloody tissue, etc. Cancer is microscopic oten, and could still lurk in "white" tissue.
I've been where you are. My mom had BC at 39. My first biopsy was at 27 (complex cyst.) Then another at 37--fibroadenoma, but the surgeon was "sure" it was going to be cancer.
And then finally cancers at age 44 and 50.
You're going to be facing down the threat of breast cancer throughout your life, unfortunately. Chances are really good at your age that this is benign, but as you know, there are lots of women in your age group who aren't so lucky. I'd tell you to quit reading about it here, but I know we must cope the best we can. And for some of us, we need to "rpe-live" the experience. "try it on" so to speak. Knowledge is power, but it still doesn't prepare us for the actual cancer diagnosis.
I wish you the best with this. Waiting is THE hardest part of the whole process. Hang in there. And come here as you need to. We'll help you through.

Hi, I just had a needle core biopsy today and the sample was an off white color almost a cream. The nurse told me that most tissue samples were bloody,, wondering if this means anything, hopefully negative ?? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
