Pea sized lump

Options

Sice my lumpectomy a couple of years ago, I've had various lumps and bumps around the scar incision area. Recently a small hard pea sized lump has appeared on the incision scar line towards one end. My recent mammogram showed nothing however, my oncologist said that mammograms can't see through scar tissue and she arranged for me to have an ultrasound on Monday. I'm obviously extrememly scared. She said it could be a cysts but I'm not so sure. She said it was highly unlikely to be a recurrance, but it can happen can't it?

THank you in advance for your replies.

    Hello Lynette,

Take a deep breath, and remind yourself it could be anything.  If your onc thinks it may be a cyst, then that is very likely.  It is also possible that the suture at the end of the scar did not disolve or absorb like it should have, and it worked it's way up to the skin (I've had that happen before).  It can be a recurrence, but I believe that is extremely rare.  I know this is very scary, but until the ultrasound, please try to remind yourself over and over that it is more than likely B9.  I know it is very hard, but please try to relax and take your mind off of it as much as you can.  And please let us know how the ultrasound goes.
