OT - looking for a referral

I'm just wondering if anyone has a neurologist in or around the Toronto area that they think is  worth referring? I need to see one and the only neurologist my GP knows is someone local. I've read brutally horrible reviews about him on ratemd.com  and don't want to see him. I have an appointment with my GP on Monday and I'm hoping I can give her the name of someone that I will feel confident being referred to. PM me if you prefer. Thanks.

Mantra -- check out the University Health Network website.  There are several VERY good neurologists at the Krembil  Neuroscience Centre at Toronto Western Hospital.  They are all affiliated with the University of Toronto.

Thanks so much for the info. I checked online and read about the Krembil Centre and TWH. There were so many Dr. and I didn't realize that neurology itself has so many specialties.

I ended up calling my sister and got the name of a neurologist my father used to see. We both thought so highly of him and he was so caring, thoughtful and open when he was my father's doctor. I checked his name to see if he had hospital priviledges with TWH and he does (as well at Sunnybrook). Even if he isn't the right doctor for my specific problem, he is at least connected to TWH and will be able to refer me to someone there who is. I see my GP on Monday and will get her to fax the referral over.

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. I'm embarrased to say I have been sitting on this for over a year completely stumped as to where to find a neurologist other than the one recommended by my GP, whom I did not want to see.

Oddly enough, I saw my BC surgeon yesterday who is with UHN and I asked her if she could give me a name and she said she couldn't think of anyone offhand. Weird, huh? And even weirder after reading your reply.

Mantra -- I think they get so wrapped up in their own specialties that they don't necessarily keep up to date with other depts, unless there are cross-overs or frequent referrals.  Glad to hear your doc has privileges at both Western and Sunnybrook and will certainly be able to refer you, if he's not the right one for you.  Good luck!
