Several threads have veered onto the topic of osteoporosis, so I thought I'd start a new thread here. What are your concerns? What are the known risks and how do you reduce them? Any questions or issues with hormone therapy and it's impact on bones?

I had a bone density test recently and now my family doctor wants me to come in for a talk. I have been osteopenic for years and am at high risk for osteoporosis (small-boned, Caucasian), so I suspect she is going to suggest putting me on a biophosphonate. She often gives me a choice and may ask me what I want to do.
I have also heard that biophosphonates can help protect against metastasis of breast cancer to the bones, so maybe it would be good to take them for that reason.
Do some of you have knowledge or opinions on that?
